The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) has confirmed the appointment of John Jenkins as Chief Operating Officer.
John will join ONR on 11 June, having held senior roles in a number of leading multi-disciplinary consultancies. He will oversee the delivery of ONR’s programmes and will be an executive member of the ONR Board and a senior member of its executive management team.
“I am looking forward to starting work with the Office for Nuclear Regulation and am particularly excited to be joining at a time of significant change, as it moves towards statutory corporation status. It is evident that ONR has a fantastic reservoir of skills and experience from which to draw, and to build and maintain its standing as a modern, world-leading regulator in the challenging times ahead.”
John will report to UK Chief Inspector of Nuclear Installations and executive head of ONR, Mike Weightman. Mike said:
“I am delighted to welcome John to the team at the Office for Nuclear Regulation. He brings 25 years of experience of engineering and management to a role that is central to the successful delivery of our future activities. John will have responsibility for ensuring our programmes are effective and efficient, and deliver our purpose – to secure the protection of people and society from the activities of the nuclear industry.”
