Motor Vehicle Repair - launch of new guidance

Health and safety in motor vehicle repair and associated industries, this guide replaces two previous publications, Health and safety in motor vehicle repair (HSG67) and Health and safety in tyre and exhaust-fitting premises (HSG62), both published in the early 1990s and reflects changes in the industry since then.

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)

Using chemicals or other hazardous substances at work can put people’s health at risk, causing diseases including asthma, dermatitis or cancer. COSHH regulations require employers to control substances that can harm workers health.

The health and safety law poster

As from 6 April 2009, HSE is publishing new versions of its approved health and safety poster and leaflet. To avoid an unnecessary burden on business, HSE has set a five year transition period. The current poster and leaflets must be replaced by the new versions by no later than 5 April 2014.

Tyre handling workshops

Controlling isocyanate exposure in spray booths and spray rooms

This guidance is aimed at owners and managers of bodyshops and will be of use to employees (particularly paint sprayers) as well as suppliers. It supplements other HSE guidance relating to protecting people’s health from isocyanate exposure in spray booths and rooms, and the statutory 14-monthly thorough examination and test carried out on spray booths and rooms.
