The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has announced it will administer a Crown Censure to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) over the deaths of three soldiers on a training exercise in the Brecon Beacons in July 2013.
HSE is currently consulting on proposals to replace the Dangerous Substances in Harbour Areas Regulations 1987 (DSHAR) with new shorter and up to date regulations and is also seeking views on a new shorter Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) to support the regulations. Consultation began on 28 October and closes on 23 December 2015.
The exemption for turban-wearing Sikhs from the need to wear head protection has been extended from construction sites to all workplaces, with some limited exceptions. The change applies solely to turban-wearing Sikhs and relates to head protection only.
