			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This guidance has been written for managers of waste management operations that may come into contact with offensive/hygiene wastes. <span id="more-5235"></span>It sets out the principles of how to handle ‘offensive/hygiene’ wastes produced by healthcare (medical care) practices or healthcare workers in the community and those produced in the community from non-healthcare (personal care) sources and sets out controls measures that can be taken to reduce the risk of ill health caused by offensive/hygiene wastes found in the municipal waste/recycling stream.</p>

<p>Several active substances in various product types have been reviewed  and are to be included in Annex I. The consequence of this is that products containing these substances will, in the relatively near future, come under the scope of BPD and will require authorisation to be placed on the market in the EU.</p>

This warning follows an incident that occurred in June 2007 outside the house of a 90-year-old lady. She was sitting in a wheelchair when it fell from the back of a vehicle operated by Staffordshire County Council. She suffered internal injuries and died 3 days later in Russell&#8217;s Hall Hospital.</p>
