HSE is using Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week (16-20 November) to renew its commitment to bring them to justice. According to provisional figures, HSE successfully prosecuted 28 people for breaching gas legislation in 2008/09, covering 66 separate offences.

HSE and Nottinghamshire County Council Trading Standards jointly prosecuted Lee Underwood, trading as LPH and Lee Plumbing and Heating.

Stephen McGill was fined a total of £1,000 and ordered to pay costs of £1,000 after pleading guilty to breaching Regulation 3(3) of the Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998, and Regulation 6(1) of the same regulations.

In the Boston Magistrates court today, illegal gas fitter Monty Alexander Brittain, of Sleaford Road, Boston in Lincolnshire, was fined £900 and ordered to pay costs of £650 for providing unqualified gas fitting services while fraudulently posing as a CORGI registered professional.

It applies to establishments consisting of a single depleted reservoir, import and export process plant and interconnecting pipework (i.e. the pipeline(s) within the COMAH establishment that connect the depleted reservoir and the process plant).
