This event will be held from 9.30am at Borders Showground in Kelso. It is aimed at those who work outdoors to raise awareness of the dangers of working with all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and pesticides. It will also provide advice on falls from height, occupational health legislation and operating equipment.

Motor Vehicle Repair safety and health awareness day, 31st August 2006
During 2005/06 12 to 14 SHADs concentrating on controlling the risks during spraying isocyanate paints in bodyshops will be held at different locations around the counrty. Local body repair workshops will be expected to attend. The aim is to reduce exposures to isocyantes, with the consequent reduction in occupational asthma.

This event is being held in the Shyberry Excelsior Stadium, Airdrie from 9am. It is aimed at design staff within North Lanarkshire Council and other design companies in the area to explain changes to CDM regulations due in 2007 and to share best design practice.

BOHS - Autumn Hot Topics Meeting, 4th October 06
Full day’s programme of hot topics in occupational hygiene where Professor Julian Peto will be headlining on mesothelioma risks in relation to asbestos exposure. Other sessions will cover occupational exposure to avian flu, silica, metalworking fluids and an update on recent changes to asbestos legislation.

Child safety reminder
As the school summer holidays approach the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) offers its support to Child Safety Week by reminding the construction industry and parents to be alert to the dangers faced by children playing on or near building sites.

European week for safety and health at work 2006
This year’s campaign slogan is ‘Safe Start’ and is dedicated to the occupational safety and health of young people. The campaign will provide helpful information for young people, employers, parents and supervisors of young people. European Week 2006 will run from 23rd – 27th October.
