New research - surprising attitudes towards health and safety

New research demonstrates that employers and workers recognise that providing a safe workplace makes sound commercial sense. HSE has launched a new strategy, Be Part of the Solution, designed to reduce the number of workplace accidents and take a common sense approach.

The health and safety law poster

As from 6 April 2009, HSE is publishing new versions of its approved health and safety poster and leaflet. To avoid an unnecessary burden on business, HSE has set a five year transition period. The current poster and leaflets must be replaced by the new versions by no later than 5 April 2014.

HSE crackdown on construction sites in Newcastle.

Work was halted on construction sites in Newcastle last week as part of a HSE crackdown on unsafe practices.

Inspectors visited 24 contractors engaged on refurbishment sites in the city and served four prohibition notices, effectively stopping work due to concerns about working at height and electrical issues.
