European Commission consults on proposal based on UN globally harmonised system of classification and labelling of chemicals
On 21 August the European Commission launched a two-month Internet Consultation on a proposed Regulation on the Classification and Labelling of chemicals based on the United Nations Globally Harmonised System (GHS).

Buncefield Investigation Board announces changes to investigation work at the Buncefield site
The Buncefield investigation has reached an important landmark with on-site evidence gathering reduced, but the overall investigation continues unabated. Virtually all the physical evidence required for forensic examination has now been removed from the site.

SIM 03/2006/12: Isocyanate paints not being banned
The introduction of the Paints Directive will mean that motor vehicle repair (MVR) bodyshops can only use
Motor Vehicle Repair safety and health awareness day, 31st August 2006
During 2005/06 12 to 14 SHADs concentrating on controlling the risks during spraying isocyanate paints in bodyshops will be held at different locations around the counrty. Local body repair workshops will be expected to attend. The aim is to reduce exposures to isocyantes, with the consequent reduction in occupational asthma.
