Company fined £280,000 after worker’s head crushed

A worker who had only been on site for two weeks was killed when his head was crushed between concrete blocks and a metal platform.

HSE today prosecuted brick manufacturing company Hanson Building Products Ltd, after the death of Peter Clarke, 57, at the company’s distribution plant in Coleshill on 26 April 2008. The company was fined £280,000 and ordered to pay costs of £29,204.
