Further measurements of fibre concentrations in CLASP construction buildings

In late July 2006, after asbestos contractors had carried out asbestos removal work at a school. This information was reported to HSE in mid-September and an assessment of the cause, the extent of the release and the effectiveness of remediation were undertaken by HSE with substantial support and co-operation from some local education authorities and HSL.

AECL withdraw from GDA process

On 4 April 2008, Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd (AECL) announced that the company were withdrawing their ACR 1000 design from the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) process.

HSE asks Secretary of State to call in planning application for the Oval Cricket Ground

In January 2008 the London Borough of Lambeth informed HSE that they were minded to go against HSE’s advice, for development at The Oval Cricket Ground, London next to gasholders operated by Southern Gas Networks plc. After careful consideration, HSE has requested, through the Government Office for London, that the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government calls-in this application for her own determination.
