Emergency relief systems for chemical reactors

Research - the AWARD (Advanced Warning and Runaway Disposal) Project addressed the needs to detect runaway initiation in advance so that appropriate countermeasures can be taken and to design emergency relief systems for chemical reactors. The missing step was the availability of reliable methods for predicting level swell in the reactor during venting and hence the quantity of liquid requiring to be dealt with by a disposal system.
