Its influence in assuring the safety of rides has been evaluated, considering background perspectives from normal practice in other industries.

Rather than rely solely on human intervention or the uncertain and inefficient dispersion of gas to detectors, ALD detects leaks through the ultrasonic sound produced by the escaping gas jet. 

This report recognises the benefits of using such devices possibly in conjunction with line-of-sight sensors to detect gaseous releases.
