Woodworking safety and health awareness day

This free event will be held in Leeds, Date 4th April 2007. SHADs have been running successfully for some time and are an important part of the HSE’s communications strategy for the woodworking industry. Their aim is to encourage pro-active management of health and safety in small woodworking companies and to promote improved training for wood machinists.

SHADs gather a large group of representatives of small woodworking companies together and, using professional instructors, demonstrate practical health and safety issues.  There are 4 training sessions over a half-day covering machinery safeguarding, tooling and training, manual handling, and control of wood dust. In return for attending an event HSE undertakes not to inspect premises for at least one year to allow time to implement the training received.
