Most vehicle repair bodyshops will be aware that the Paints Directive comes into effect from January next year. But, despite rumours to the contrary, isocyanate-based paints are not being banned.

In fact, the proportion of isocyanate hardener used is likely to increase. And almost every bodyshop uses isocyanate-based paints - it appears in some water-based paints, most base coats and almost all lacquers.

So those involved in the industry need to know about groundbreaking research that has made HSE radically rethink our approach to protecting bodyshop workers. It has literally re-written the health and safety rulebook for the motor vehicle repair industry!
