Patrick McDonald has taken up post as the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) Chief Scientist, he replaces Dr Paul Davies who recently retired. Patrick joins HSE from the Department for Trade and Industry where he was the Technology Director.

SHADs have been running successfully for some time and are an important part of the HSE’s communications strategy for the woodworking industry. Their aim is to encourage pro-active management of health and safety in small woodworking companies and to promote improved training for wood machinists.
